Dear Paul

I have visited your web site not because I have had any experience or even heard of the place until recently reading a book entitled “The Ghost Runner' by Bill Jones. The book is a biography about John Tarrant an ultra distant athlete who spent eight years there with his younger brother between 1940 and 1947 his memories are not happy ones having suffered and seen lots of physical abuse. You may already know of John Tarrant but just in case you don't I can recommend the book not only to glean an insight to how life was there but as a terrific read even for those who are not interested in athletics. I got my copy at the local library ,it was published in 2011......Rgds Brian Renshall  Sunday 29/01/2012
